again and again. White Rooster is everyday food, done with care, depth and chef-driven flavor. It’s food meant
to be eaten after surfing, after driving, after living.”
Where California Comfort Meets Surf Soul
Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
I’m from NorCal and I saw the reviews and was in the area, so we gave it a try. —> AMAZINNNNNG. My new favorite spot in all of SoCal. Seriously. We ordered the brekkie quesadilla (pictured), banana bread skillet (pictured), chilaquiles with try-tip added, smoked carnitas brunch burrito, and la flaca scramble, but I requested cheese to be added (what a great choice by me!). Once I realized I wanted to leave a rave review, I had already finished my plate (pictured). But everything about what I ate was amazing. The perfect balance of richness in my plate (thanks cheese), veggie distribution and grilled-to-perfection flavor in them was enough to say this is the best scramble I’ve EVER had. I also tried the banana dish and that was lovely. The portions sizes were perfect for me. My boys had the other plates. The quesadilla was also all-time according to my son. The side sauce was amazing he said (tomatillo maybe?) He loved the tri-tip also. There were so many other items I wanted to try that I will have to wait for another day. Our bellies were full and so happy. As far as the service and ambiance, it was fantastic. For context, we went on a Saturday morning, when I’d usually expect a rush on breakfast restaurants. It wasn’t crazy at all. No wait. No problem. Also, we saw a dog dining with his people inside, which is nice to see that they are dog-friendly. The servers and staff were so pleasant and attentive. It’s small enough that you don’t get lost or forgotten and also enough staff around that you always have someone to ask for anything you need at almost any moment. We had timely service, but didn’t feel rushed at all. Someone in an earlier review mentioned the plastic chairs. I can confirm they are lovely, but I took a pic for reference.
Great cute new spot! Went on their second day open and the staff was gracious, attentive, curious about our experience, open to suggestions etc. The space is adorable and open. Cutlery is unique and beautiful. The plastic black chairs look like they are going to be hard and they are just the opposite- notably comfortable and bendy. The breakfast burrito was lovely- the salsas they serve with it are not hot at all, rather a bit sweet so if you like spice ask for the chefs hot sauce. It made it. The charm of indoor/outdoor concept is lost a bit considering it faces a parking lot of a run down strip mall and is next door to a bait shop, but the entire area is being renovated bit by bit so hopefully the location will make more sense soon enough.
Just found this amazing new restaurant in Dana Point. The grilled yellowtail bowl and the "rooster" yellowtail fish tacos were delicious. Word has gotten out because it was packed for Wednesday lunch. The owner Micheal was so friendly and came out to say hello. Love that you can either dine in with table service or you can order take out (and have a picnic at Doheney State Beach which is across the street). I can't wait to come back to try the gluten free waffles, which my friend tried and said was delicious!!
What a pleasant surprise!!!!! The food was incredible and staff was amazing! The owner even came out and introduced himself. We will be going back every time we’re here ❤️ we had the Elvis waffles and chliqulias ❤️
Great food and lemonade! Their corn waffles are super filling. I got the La Jolla Lemonade, too, which was sweet and tangy, just the way I like it. My mom got avocado toast and "OC" juice, which she adored. Theor hot sauce labels made me laugh, too, and everyone was super friendly! My only complaint is it's a little loud between music and other conversations, but not enough to take a star off.
