I am not sure why this place gets bad reviews. I loved the fish and chips. The service was friendly and quick. Ocean front views, cool vibe. I will definitely be back!
Prices were very high for mid grade food. Service may have been short staffed. Took almost 30 minutes for just waters and an hour for our food. The bathrooms were kinda run down. Only plus was the beach view, otherwise it's not a place I'd try again.
The only thing this place has really going for it is the proximity to the beach and the views. The food was okay. We got a bowl of clam chowder and fish and chips, which they claim they are famous for. The fish was very flaky and moist, almost hard to pick up with a fork. The sides though - SO weird. They give you a tiny cup of cold peas (like why), and the coleslaw was honestly the worst coleslaw I’ve ever tasted. It was gray for starters, and has raisins in it. It almost tasted like it was made a week ago, left out on the counter for several hours and then refrigerated. Just weird. Also, witnessed very strange behavior from the staff. They let you choose your seat, but there was a few big parties, and when they went to choose seats, they were told they couldn’t sit there because they were expecting a different big party. Also saw a couple get served their food and the waitress when placing it down, said, “I’m not sure which one is which” and proceeded to stick her face, super close to the omelettes she was holding to get a better look. She still didn’t figure it out and had the customer stick his fork in it to find out. Our waiter was really hard to understand. He mumbled so badly and didn’t make eye contact. He also didn’t bring us our check until we asked after 15 minutes of sitting there twiddling our thumbs. The last strange thing I witnessed that I feel like I have to tell you all about is the dessert tray of just one of each dessert that sits at the front of the restaurant uncovered. We witnessed the wait staff, bring it around to a handful of different tables and ask if they wanted a dessert. Super weird lol! Overall, great location, but the service and menu needs serious help. Oh and sorry one more thing - WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! Paid $42 for a bowl of soup and some fish lol.
Overall 2 stars. We sat down and were greeted by a server maybe 5min later, not an issue. Issue was the server spoke so low and was difficult to hear. Then we received menus and prices were insane. When a different server came back to get our orders he spoke so quiet and quick about specials and other things there was no way we could pick up on what he was saying. We just ordered a burger. It came 20min later and it was just alright $30 for a burger worse than that i could’ve made at home for $4. The only servers who actually seemed engaged in working were the two older workers who both were very nice and said thanks even though they didn’t serve us. Basically save your money and your mind by going somewhere else.
First off, after reading some reviews.. this is not a high end restaurant and shouldn't be expected for gourmet food. With that said, the items they do have exceeded our expectations for the quality and care that went into each dish! I ordered the highly recommended fish and chips and my wife ordered the crab and avocado, on a brioche bun, and sweet potato fries - both dishes were hot, fresh and well-proportioned and you can tell the locals and tourists, like us, enjoy it! From a service perspective, our waitress was Jean and she was top-notch. She was personable, knowledgeable, a leader and even a hero (she helped a young boy find his mom at the beach!). Overall, a great time, great vibes and we will be back for another simple but great experience at the Greeter's Corner restaurant!
