In town for the week visiting my daughter, son in law and new grand baby. Decided to go to Laguna for the day and came to The Deck to check out the vibe.
My daughter and I had the cioppino. 6.5/10. Good quality, seafood, nice presentation, but the broth was lacking in the flavor department which made the whole dish seemed very one note.
My youngest daughter had the NY Strip medium rare. 7.5/10. It came out on high side of medium, closer to medium well. She was happy with it said it was delicious.
My wife had the grilled cheese. 9.1/10. We all tried it, and we all felt she won the best dish of the night. The tomato balanced out the cheddar with the fontina, the grilled onions and bacon. If I ever come back, this is what I will order.
My son in law got the mahi-mahi sandwich. He said the fish was good, but the bottom bun was like it had been sitting in water. Totally disintegrating. 3.1/10. Also had the clam chowder. This was a solid cup of chowder. 7.9/10.
Nothing memorable. Would only recommend the grilled cheese sandwich.

An incredible dining experience! This beachfront restaurant exceeded my expectations. The service was outstanding from the moment we arrived—friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our meal. Bartender was quick and polite, no waiting for a drink. Our server, Lawrence, went over the menu options & recommendations. He was exactly what you hope for when going to a nice place, with a great aatmosphere, polite, knowledgeable and engaging.
The ceviche was fresh, flavorful, and dang near perfect. The oysters were great,paired with sherry & a seaweed salad. The jumbo shrimp were cooked to perfection, plump & fresh...definitely NOT frozen crap, and the homemade clam chowder was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, I've had better so if you're wanting GREAT clam chowder, keep looking, but it was good. Caution, let it rest a minute, comes out HOT.
To top it all off, the cocktails we enjoyed, bloody mary and the el jefe, were expertly crafted and just what we needed with our oceanfront view. If you're passing through Laguna Beach then make The Deck a spot on your itinerary to eat, drink & enjoy the views.

Food was ok, wish there was more options. The lady running our food could have been friendlier. Our waiter was fine, but changed the mood when he charged us for a guacamole they brought to our table by mistake. We thought it was like complementary “chips and salsa”. When we asked he said, “yeah it was a mistake bringing them to your table but since you were eating it….” Not cool. He said if we were going to make a big deal about it he would have the manager take it off our bill. Made for my family’s experience to be negative. We had been waiting months for this lunch, visited from Portland, Oregon. We won’t be back.

Our waiter, Bäj was amazing! He helped make the evening unforgettable. He was informative, truthful, had great recommendations, was attentive, and funny too. Krissy and I were probably his strangest guest but he just rolled with it. I had to give him a shout out
Overall, it was the best dining experience we had in Laguna Beach.
The food was excellent. I was a bit basic with a Beach Burger and Krissy had the clam and mussels dish. She won with the better dish. It was so good. The saffron and broth were exquisite. But I'm selling the burger short. It was the best burger I had in town still. Right temp, good bacon, fresh veg. Nothing to complain about. We had a toffee dessert and it was great too!
The reason why everyone comes here is to catch the sunset views. You're right on the beach, all dinner you hear the waves and then the sun starts to set and lights the sky on fire with yellows, oranges, and pinks. The fever dream of color was amazing. THEN DOLPHINS SWAM RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Like we just can't make this stuff up. Is there anything more perfect?
Good company, good food, good views, good sounds; what's not to love.

Honestly don’t know how ppl give it 5*..
I’ll admit that the view and sitting by the beach is always a great experience and relaxing, but I wouldn’t recommend to order more than a drink and enjoy the vibe.
As a seafood restaurant the seafood quality for the price is not present well.
We ordered ceviche and it was the smallest ceviche I have ever gotten, the chips bowl was bigger than the dish. We also got tacos that were covered completely with cabbage, it was impossible to see the tacos… flavors were not complete. Very strong smell of fish like it wasn’t cleaned or fresh, and the raw cabbage felt like it wasn’t washed. The price wasn’t it worth it for my opinion. As well we were sitting in the cold time at sunset and they do no have hot water or tea to drink. Easy to say that the visit was nice but for one time.
