We had a great round at Shorecliffs on Friday. We hopped on the simulator for a few warm up swings and closest to the pin contest then heading out for a 1:10 tee time. Weather was perfect and the course was in good shape. Accuracy off the tee is the key here. Greens had been aerified a couple weeks ago, but were in great condition and rolling nicely. Staff took great care of us as usual. Can’t wait to play again.

You might be shocked by my 5-star rating. Allow me to explain. I flew 3,000 miles to play this course. I played with my golf buddy Steve who lives in Dana Point.
I read a few reviews a month ago. I knew going in that it was a target-golf course because of the topography. That said, I wasn't prepared for how tight some of the holes were. I felt like I was in a slot canyon on a few holes.
My generous rating is based upon the following:
-bang for the buck
-test of my skills to play target golf
-driving the cart through numerous long drainage canal tunnels
-overall design of the course
The course had just been aerated the few days before so the greens were sandy and bumpy. Being a public course, it was rough around the edges. I knew that going in.
A review below was added by a person who, I believe, said he had a 14 handicap or so. He then said he lost 12 balls it was so tight. I packed 30 balls being a 27 handicap, but only lost three balls - all on the same hole!
I think the most challenging hole was a par 3 #4. When you get to the tee box, you'll say, "Are you kidding me?" There must be 1,000 balls, or more, in the trees to the right. Don't be a fool. Don't take the hero shot to the green unless you can hit it straight as an arrow.
I think you're going to love this course if you just swing a little slower and keep your ball in play.

Good value for the price. Green speeds are fairly fast, but the undulation is not too severe, so putting is manageable. Tee boxes were in rough shape, with quite a few worn and poorly repaired spots. Due to recent rain, there were several unplayable areas on the fairways, and the course features many shorter par 4s overall. Compared to Riverview Golf Course at a similar price point, this course is shorter but offers more variety in layout, which makes it the better option in my opinion.

It was good course overall and I’d play again. Had some really tough par 3’s and very short par 4’s and 5. The one par 5 tee box seemed to be under renovation so that made sense why it was short, but hole 11 par 4 was like 230 yards. You already got some tough par 3’s just add one more. Pace of play was really good until we got caught up with a 7 person group and the course Marshall was cool with it. Genuinely have never seen that before and I hope I never do.

Staff and restaurants food was good.golf course was not pleasant relaxed design.too many narrow and some are wet under ground tunnels to pass hole to hole. Sign to next hole is not cleary posted.
Many waiting time b/s short par 3 and par 4 holes.
