I want to preface this review by saying that everything apart from the food was good. The atmosphere was pleasant, the staff were polite, and the service was exactly what I’d expect from a restaurant like this. My rating is based solely on the food, which I would give 3 out of 5 stars.
Unfortunately, the chorizo burrito was disappointing. It didn’t taste fresh—it had the texture and flavor of something that had been prepared ahead of time, frozen, and reheated. I even asked one of the servers whether the food was made in-house, and they assured me that everything is. While I appreciate the reassurance, that simply wasn’t reflected in what I was served.
Having lived in Southern California, where excellent Mexican food is easy to find, I’ve had plenty of fresh, high-quality chorizo burritos. Compared to those, this burrito lacked the freshness I expected. Of course, this is my personal impression, but it genuinely did not taste freshly prepared.
The chips and salsa were also underwhelming. The chips tasted stale, oddly moist, and as though they had absorbed old frying oil. They certainly didn’t have the crisp texture or warmth of freshly fried chips. Instead, they felt like they had been sitting out for quite some time.
Finally, the burrito itself was only lukewarm rather than hot. If it had been prepared and served fresh, I would have expected it to arrive much hotter. Instead, it felt like it had been reheated rather than cooked to order.
Overall, while the service and atmosphere were just okay, the quality and freshness of the food did not meet my expectations. I hope this was an off day, because with a better focus on freshness, the restaurant could provide a much better dining experience.
Edit: Another point I’d like to add: I’ve had several experiences with food poisoning in the past because I ignored my gut instinct and finished meals that didn’t seem right. This time, I decided not to make the same mistake. Even though I was hungry, I barely touched my burrito. After just three bites, I completely lost my appetite because something about it didn’t seem right. I can’t say whether there was actually anything unsafe about the food, but it did not taste fresh enough for me to feel comfortable continuing to eat it.

Lovely restaurant just a block away from Chapman University and a short walk from The Old Towne Orange Plaza. Great place serves up fresh, healthy, delicious home meals.

This is such a great restaurant! They have an amazing huge menu with so many great choices covering all gamuts of food. And the food is fantastic. The waiters are fabulous. Very patient, informative, and super nice. You can eat inside or outside on their patio watching all the activity because they are maybe 100 yards from the downtown Orange circle. They have a small parking lot behind the restuarant which really helps out if all the parking on the street is taken. They seem to always have a $1 appetizer to start things off which is always tasty and well worth it. The food comes out fast and hot. The portions are huge so if you like leftovers no problem here. If you like breakfast you're in luck. They serve it all day long. If you haven't ever eaten here I guarantee you will remember this restaurant and come back whenever you get a chance.

Excellent experience on a Saturday late morning, around 11:30 am.
We initially were going to the filling station cafe, but as usual is it insanely busy and food is just ok.
If you walk down across the street and a few more steps, you’ll find this relaxing, welcoming, and quieter restaurant.
No wait, plenty of seats, very welcoming staff. Great for a nice breakfast and lunch date or with friends.
Food was good, flavorful and delicious, and the sweet potatoes dip was awesome. Good value, good flavor!

Very nice staff. All of are party of 5 loved it. Even the 10 year old says its her favorite restaurant! Delicious,fresh and healthy food. Made from scratch dressings, sauces. Im crazy for both those things! I even went back a week later and bought 2 jars of salad dressings!
