Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
I've been a fan of Pasty Kitchen and visited the original location in Los Alamitos for years. I'm glad this new location opened up—plenty of parking with the same quality, and friendly service. Every pasty pie tastes homemade and filling. My favorite is the chicken pasty, but I also enjoy beef and specials like the Italian pasty. I always get a large chicken gravy to add extra flavor and moisture to each bite. The beef gravy is also perfect for the beef pasty. I also get small pies, as they are the ideal size for me as a meal. There are also salads to pair with the pasty pies. I recently got the macaroni salad, and although I prefer a creamier version, this was enjoyable. You can't forget the cookies and dessert pies, which satisfy a sweet tooth. Frozen pies are also occasionally available to warm up throughout the week. Inside, you can see the staff working hard and a counter display with some goodies, but there aren't any seats inside or outside. The only options are to take out, eat in your car, or relax at a park nearby. I am happy to support this long-standing, local business.
Pasty Kitchen's new location 5091 Ball Rd Cypress CA 90630, same parking lot as Joe Schmoes. I got the corned beef and cabbage pasty, it's my favorite and unfortunately they didn't serve it all year. So wonderful! The beef pasty is fantastic too! Stop on by this week (3/6/25) to try their corned beef and cabbage pasty!
Came across this place after having Thai next-door. Definitely reminds me of a family owned mom and pop food store. The customer service was top-notch and the food definitely looked very appealing to the eyes. I had the beef mud pie and it was pretty good. Probably could use a little bit more salt/flavor, but the quality and size portion was excellent. Definitely recommend this place.
I was excited to try this spot, especially since I love this kind of food, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The pastries are very good, but the filling was extremely salty and undercooked, which left me feeling bloated and stuffed afterward. Also, also the gravy was so salty. If you enjoy salty food, you might like it, but if you’re not a fan of that, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. The portions are large and the prices are affordable, which is a plus, but I wasn’t a fan of how it was served. On the bright side, the chicken was tender, and the macaroni salad was actually very good. By the way, it’s only available take out only. Overall, it’s a hit or miss depending on your taste preferences!
Variations of food is on point. The beef empanada was a good portion and good price . Only complaint I have is it needed more flavor. Too bland .
