Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
My husband and I had such a wonderful experience at Hook and Anchor. From the moment we were seated, Renny took amazing care of us. He was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed the entire time. It’s rare to find service that feels this personal. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. We loved every dish we tried. You can really tell this place takes pride in both their food and their hospitality. Hook and Anchor made our night special, and Renny truly went above and beyond. We’ll definitely be coming back, and I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for great seafood and even better service.
Went for our 1st time Sunday afternoon! We sat at the bar Our bartender Kat was delightful! We had delicious items off the happy hour menu, (the oysters were amazing & the calamari fries out of this world) with a cocktail and we ordered the 6 oz lobster roll and it was probably the best we've ever had on the west coast! We are originally from New England born and raised so New England seafood and good seafood we know! Can't wait to go back
A sign that a restaurant is under good management is validated by consistently serving the same and/or better quality of their food, consistency in their staff & service. I applaud Wayne for his management style in finding & onboarding the right staff to ensure all the above. We love Karina, bartender, and Arianna, our favorite server. I’ve said it before and will say it loudly…..they’ve got the BEST fish & chips and clam chowder in OC. The noise level, coming from Hennessy’s next door, appears addressed.
Been looking for a good lobster roll in South OC for a while and finally found one at Hook & Anchor. The lobster roll was awesome and the mac & cheese was just as good. Everything tasted fresh and hit the spot. Definitely recommend—can’t wait to come back.
Tried this new place. Liked it, not loved it hoping they will smooth out a bit after being open for awhile. Pluses: nice service and excellent clam chowder. Minus: Lobster tail. Got the surf and turf. The tail looked nice when served but the meat was completely stuck to the shell and crumbled into shreds. Couldn’t even get a decent bite. Expensive dish, poorly cooked, over-cooked? Frozen tail. I do not recommend this dish. Looks good, but terribly prepared. They should fix this dish, or stop serving it. Hopefully other menu items are better.
