4/5 ### George's Hamburgers, Fullerton: Solid Bites in a Legendary Spot, But Patience Required Tucked away on West Commonwealth Avenue in Fullerton, George's Hamburgers has earned its stripes as a neighborhood cornerstone since the '70s—a no-frills diner where locals flock for hearty, affordable eats that hit the spot without pretense. This family-run joint thrives on word-of-mouth hype, drawing crowds for its massive breakfast burritos, juicy half-pound burgers, and sides that could feed a small army. On a recent weekday lunch run, I dove in expecting the classics, and while the food delivered reliable comfort, the infamous wait times tested my resolve. If you're craving a quick grease fix, brace yourself; this isn't fast food, it's a ritual. The menu keeps it simple and satisfying: think thick, char-grilled patties slathered in cheese and fixings, or the behemoth breakfast burrito stuffed with fluffy eggs, crispy hash browns, bacon, sausage, and melty cheddar—all wrapped in a toasted flour tortilla that holds together like a champ (pro tip: ranch on the side elevates it to perfection). I went for the double cheeseburger combo with a side of their famed chili cheese fries, and the burger was a winner—juicy, well-seasoned beef with that perfect sear, fresh toppings, and a bun that didn't sog out. Portions? Generous to a fault; the fries alone could serve two, piled high with house-made chili, gooey cheese, and a sprinkle of onions. Everything tasted homemade and flavorful, with that nostalgic diner vibe that keeps folks coming back. Prices seal the deal—under $15 for a full meal that leaves you stuffed and smiling. That said, the real star—the chili cheese fries—lands squarely in average territory. They're hearty and messy in the best way, with a decent chili that's spicy without overwhelming, but the cheese can cool too quickly into a rubbery layer, and the fries underneath go limp if you're not diving in hot. Solid? Absolutely. Worth the institution-level lines snaking out the door on weekends (or even peak lunch hours)? Eh, not quite. We waited 25 minutes just to order on a Thursday afternoon, and another 15 for the food to hit the table—charming for die-hards, frustrating if you're hangry and just want to eat and go. The tiny space and limited seating amplify the chaos, turning a casual bite into a commitment. Service is friendly and efficient once you're in, but the bottleneck is real. Bottom line: George's shines for unpretentious, crowd-pleasing grub that's miles better than chain slop, especially if you're in for the full Fullerton experience—grab a burrito to go and skip the sit-down shuffle. But for those chili cheese fries? Save the hype for something that justifies the queue. Great neighborhood fuel, just not a line-stander's dream. 4/5 stars: Tasty tradition with a side of timeout.

Old school hamburger joint. Staff greet their customers by name. Customers travel miles to enjoy the breakfast burrito or large portions and made to order food customized to your liking. The place needs an update but the constant flow of customers shows they know looks are not that important. Quality product with Large portions and low prices drive customers. Overall positive experience. Filled the family. 👍🏼🌯

I stopped by here for breakfast and tried their breakfast burrito (thanks to TikTok) — easily a good pick! The tortilla was perfectly toasted, giving it just the right amount of crispiness, and inside, the eggs were fluffy, the cheese melted, and the bacon & sausage added the perfect savory bite. The salsa on the side had just the right kick to bring everything together. Beyond the food, the service was just as great. The staff was warm and welcoming. They kept checking in to ensure the burrito was good - as they recognized it was my first time. It’s the kind of place where you feel at home the moment you walk in. If you’re looking for a solid breakfast spot with great food and friendly service, this is definitely worth a visit! Their chili cheese fries were also great!

First time here, George’s has been on my list forever and I finally made it! This is a very unique place. Old school. It was packed at 10am on a weekday if that tells you anything. I got the breakfast burrito and it did not disappoint! Wonderful and reasonably priced too! Delicious! The food, the vibe with the locals here, everything just “works”. Can wait to come back and try cheeseburgers and other things!
