El Zarape Cocina Y Tequila is a Mexican restaurant/bar in Cypress, located near the Trader Joe's on Katella Avenue. The place is nicely decorated and very clean. Service is reasonably fast and corteous. For start, the complimentary chips and salsa were very good and very fresh. The pico de gallo was excellent, albeit a tad too spicy for my wife (though she has the tolerance to spicy food of a toddler). I thought the spicy level was moderate and tolerable to most adults. I had the big wet burrito with carne asada (burrito enzarapado). The meat was tender, but overall the burrito wasn't the tastiest I've ever had. I mean, it was good, but not excellent, and I definitely expected more from a $23 burrito. My wife ordered the fish taco plate, and she also rated it as good but not excellent. It's a good restaurant that serves good food. In my humble opinion, however, it's a little overpriced for what you get. I can name at least a dozen Mexican restaurants in Orange County that offer tastier food at a lower price. Just averagely not as fancy...

Wonderful Mexican restaurant to dine in or to sit at the bar. Large drink selection with friendly servers. I can't comment on the food since I only had drinks at the bar. I asked for a bloody mary which the bartender asks questions to know how you would like it made. Overall a Great time.

My children and I had a great experience here. We all agreed five stars. The review must open with amazing service, provided by Tristan (the guy with Star Wars tatoos). Chips and salsa came right out. Chips were great as was the salsa. Heavy on fresh cut tomatoes, the salsa delivered great taste with a bit of spice and heat. I asked for suggestions from the server, who provided insight on food and drinks. I went for the top shelf with the Zarape Grand Margarita and was pleased. A bit more $ but could identify flavor and pour, as where the money went. Food came out very quickly. I had the Shrimp Enchiladas, rice and beans. With a hint of orange in the sauce, I really enjoyed them. Rice was tasty and good refried beans. Burrito Mojado (chicken), carne asada tacos, ordered across the table, all delivered and enjoyable meal. Full bar Good number of tables. Wasn't busy at 1:30~ish when we went. I can see it being busy at times, given the area, and see in other reviews that impacted the experience. Server said they were still in a soft opening. Other reviews talked about their "old full menu" and it that was stated that will return (no ETA). I will return to eat again. Maybe it's pricier than another regular spot of mine, Mario's. The food quality is higher, as is the atmosphere and service, so also being closer to me, that balances the $$$.

Fantastic food and cocktails. The Tamarind mezcal margarita was amazing. It perfectly complimented their Chicken Mole enchiladas wich is a MUST every time we go here. The ceviche is so fresh and delicious. Highly recommend coming here. 😍

First timer to this restaurant, a higher level mexican cuisine with many famiar dishes and choices to add more protein like shrimp. I had a shredded chicken tostada + shrimp. I had a choice of corn or flour tortilla. which they molded into a bowl. Presentation was impressive. The other entree selected was shrimp tacos. CHIPS N SALSA are customarily placed on table soon after seated. Menu entrees are $20-$40 and higher then local neighborhood mex restaurants. We enjoyed our meal but not quite convinced this restaurant is a value option.
