Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
First visit, all good, as expected. My senior pancake breakfast, with link sausages, was good ($11.89). The pancakes were served hot, plenty of butter, and the sausage was especially good. They were better than the usual ones most restaurants serve. Service was prompt and friendly. Recommended.
Corky's Kitchen & Bakery is the quintessential neighborhood spot for classic, homestyle American comfort food. It’s a warm and welcoming place that has become our family's go-to for a satisfying meal without any fuss. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, making it perfect for a relaxed weekend breakfast or a hearty weeknight dinner. The first thing you’ll notice is the portion sizes; they are famously generous, so you will never leave hungry. It’s clear they take pride in the "Grandma's kitchen" philosophy, where every dish feels familiar and comforting. The all-day breakfast is a huge draw, with massive, fluffy pancakes and skillets loaded with fresh ingredients. For lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong with classics like their savory meatloaf platter or the hand-breaded chicken fried steak, which are always consistent and delicious. A visit to Corky’s isn't complete without at least looking at the bakery counter. The pies, giant cookies, and massive cinnamon rolls are incredible. Even if you're too full from your meal, it's almost impossible to resist grabbing a treat to take home for later. For a reliable, family-friendly restaurant that serves up delicious comfort food with a smile, Corky's Kitchen & Bakery is a true Ladera Ranch favorite.
I stopped by Corky’s Home Style Kitchen & Bakery in Ladera after the remodel, but the experience was very disappointing. The service was awful — our waitress never checked on us, and we waited nearly 20 minutes just to get the check. My benedict came out cold, oily, and tasted terrible. The fruit cup even had a strange white substance on it, which made it inedible. The to-go dessert box was messy with milk spilled inside, and when I mentioned it, the waitress just wiped it off instead of replacing it. I even had to ask for a bag to carry our boxes. From the food to the service, everything was a letdown, and my stomach felt upset after the meal. Definitely not a place I would go back to.
Good food. Decent portion size. Fast service. It’s great they have homemade baked goods. The waffles were good. My steak that I ordered medium was rare though. It still tasted fine, but I would’ve liked it to be more cooked.
Pretty good variety of foods. Had the fish and chips and caramel milkshake. Fish and chips was pretty average wasn’t the best nor the worse. The caramel milkshake did hit the spot. I recommend trying Corky’s milkshakes at least once. Atmosphere feeling was quite chill. Overall, this is the type of place you visit every few months or so.
