We have driven past Carlos Mexican Restaurant for 25 years and finally decided to grabbed some take out. They were very quick with the order, and the service for the short time we were picking up the food was great. They included utensils and napkins. One of us had to wait in the truck as there was no parking, which goes to show it's popularity. On the drive out I did see a gravel lot just north of the lot which I guess I could have parked in. We ordered a chicken quesadilla, California Burrito, 1 item combo and a 2 item combo. As we ate we discussed our satisfaction level. Each of us considered it a 4/5 or a 5/5 star for taste. The price is right. The next time we will try a dine-in experience.

Our go-to place!! My husband and I have been coming here for years. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and reliable. You know exactly what kind of experience you’re going to get when you walk in, and that consistency is rare nowadays. Whether it’s a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner, they always deliver. What really keeps us coming back though is the service. The staff is genuinely friendly, welcoming, and makes you feel like a regular instead of just another table. There’s a reason this place has such a loyal customer base. Dana point has a lot of dining options, but Carlos continues to earn our business year after year.

Great food, easy parking, and a charming patio with a fire pit. Reasonably priced for the area. Definitely eat on the patio if you can, the interior dining area is a whole different vibe. The town can be a little pretentious, so this place was a warm and welcoming oasis.

Very good Mexican.
It looks a family business, with a few locally staff and food came out very quickly and tasting good.
They have parking just outside at the front too.

Had a really nice experience at Carlos Mexican Restaurant in Dana Point. The place has a relaxed, welcoming vibe, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The food came out hot and fresh — everything tasted homemade and full of flavor.
I tried the fajita , and it was delicious. The portions were generous, and the chips and salsa were a great start. Drinks were also good and reasonably priced.
