Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
Took my friend to steelcraft for lunch today. It’s been 3 years since I’ve been here and most of the vendors are new since my last visit. We decided to order a few things to mix and match and share. We ordered 2 sliders with a side. Wow! Those are regular size sandwiches so I’m glad we shared. We got the normal heat and it was perfect. Nice juicy chicken with the perfect amount of heat. Our side was fried pickles with ranch dressing. Yummy ranch! Homemade and different from the normal. This was a great choice of food!
GET THE TOTS!!!!!! They were super crispy and had nice flavor with the Bird Sauce! The slider was fairly large and had a nice big juicy portion of chicken. We came for a snack and ended up full for most of the day from sharing a meal. The buns of the slider had a nice sweet flavor to them and a semi-firm hold. Would try this again to enjoy a different sandwich.
I was hoping for the best chicken sandwich in OC, I received a mediocre sandwich. The employee was very helpful as we determined the fries are 1.50 cheaper if you order online. I got the spicy sandwich, I wasn't impressed. It was covered in a spicy mayonnaise that I wasn't a fan of, it tasted chalky. Fries were good, my favorite part of the meal!
It feels like every time I come to Steel Craft, a vender has either closed, leaving vacant stalls behind or someone new takes over. That’s what happen to this stall. I remember ordering Hainan Chicken dish but now it’s a new vender. Bird Talk opened this past March. It’s their second location with their first in Palos Verdes. They take their time to making everything fresh so expect a good 15-30 mins. You get a buzzer. We got the 10 piece chicken nugget combo ($9.95). Comes with a side and sauce. Unfortunately it only comes with original flavor and can’t be changed. I was picturing McNugget but it was more like large chicken popcorn. Very filling for 10 piece. We got Nashville Sliders ($14), comes with 2 sliders, side, and sauce. I was imagining Hawaiian bread size for the sliders. Nope, it’s slightly smaller than a full size. Like a junior whooper size! Huge! You’re able to pick spice level: mild, spicy or super spicy. I got spicy. It wasn’t spicy. We also got 3 tenders combo ($12), comes with side and sauce. You can pick the flavors, we got 2 Nashville and 1 plain. Each of our combo came with a side. There are 8 sides to choose from. We got loaded tots (topped with cheese, bacon, green onions), loaded crinkle cut fries (sprinkled Cajun spice), and Mac and cheese. I’m not a Mac and cheese person but this was not bad because it wasn’t so cheesy. The tots were crispy. Everything taste delicious. There’s 6 sauces and you get to pick one for each combo. We went with 2 Come back (creamy Buffalo) and 1 Bird dip( Cajun thousand island. Overall, the chicken was fresh, extra crunchy, moist, and flavorful. It was worth the wait.
Their food looks great in social media pics so I’ve been wanting to try, but as soon as I tasted my food I was disappointed. I had the original chicken sandwich and fries, and everything (including sauce) was bland. In comparison to Chik-Fil-A and Cane’s, it did not taste as good and yet was more expensive, at $15 (around $16 after tax), and that is pretty much the cheapest full entree option on the menu. Would not recommend. The food hall Steelcraft looks nice but unfortunately the food is overpriced and haven’t had much there that has been that great
