Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
Dr. Preda is one of the best dentists Ive ever had! The office staff are also great too. A few other names I’d like to recognize are Anna, Kimberly, Gabriel, and Brianna. Everybody else in the office ( I didn’t name) are incredible too! A few comments on my procedures. Most of them are quick and comfortable. Dr. Preda is precise and makes sure her patients are comfortable at all times. The other assistants will ask “are you okay” and meet their patients with kindness and compassion. I actually look forward to my next visit!
I rarely write negative reviews but I feel compelled to share my experience here as a healthcare provider after many months of reflecting, in the hopes that it helps someone else. I moved to the area a little over a year ago and was looking for a new dentist after seeing my childhood dentist and then the same dentist in Philadelphia for 8 years. Both of these providers have seen me religiously every 6 months my entire life and I am diligent about my dental care. I had fillings placed as a child and have had zero work since, and both of my dentists told me I had great teeth every 6 months at my cleanings. I went to Aliso Viejo dental for what I thought would be routine cleaning and establishment of care last spring. I had/have absolutely no pain/symptoms. I was told that I need all my childhood fillings replaced, as they are cracked and if I don’t get them replaced I will develop air pockets/cavities and need root canals. I also was shown a 3D rendering of all the microfractures in my teeth, told that if I let my shifting go these fractures would cause damage to the structural integrity of my teeth, and then they tried to sell me on very expensive Invisalign. I left confused because I have never been told about any of these issues by my previous dentists and I had no symptoms. The front desk was very pushy, and used fear tactics to get me to “schedule it now before things got worse and I needed root canals”. They texted and called me numerous times after the visit despite me cancelling any further visits with them and not responding out of fear and confusion that something was very wrong with my mouth. The communication was very pushy and aggressive, and the whole experience made me feel as if I was at a used car salesman rather than a professional medical office. I recently established care with a new provider in Laguna Beach, told him the back story and said if he agreed with what Aliso Viejo Dental recommended, then I would proceed with any indicated treatments. After X rays and a very detailed exam with photos, he explained to me that my teeth are in perfect condition, and he was glad I trusted my gut and did not dissolve all my childhood fillings and have them replaced at Aliso Viejo Dental. He described that if I were to have had those fillings removed that are not causing me any issues at all, it is similar to ripping the scab off a healed wound, and I likely would have needed to keep going back with multiple dental issues and possibly have needed root canals in the future. He also described to me that the microfractures I have in my teeth are a perfectly normal part of wear and tear, do not affect the structural integrity of the tooth, and in fact, when veneers are made they purposely place microfractures to make the veneers look more like “real teeth”. Overall, this was a frightening experience. I am a physician myself, and I would never ever try to talk my patient into unnecessary medical procedures for my own gain - it is completely unethical. I felt that I was gaslighted and had I proceeded, I would have had many costly dental issues. Take this for what you will, but I would proceed with caution here and get a second opinion before doing any major work.
Thank you so much Dr. Preda and staff for taking care of me today! Julie did an amazing job with my hygiene and Ana the assistant was so sweet! I'm so grateful to have found this office!
I have been going to Dr. Preda for a decade. She’s by far the best dentist I’ve ever had. The entire office staff takes great care and attention to detail. They care about their clients’ health and bio individuality.
