I’m a huge fan of moulin cafes in general, but all and all this one is my least favorite. The place is smaller, and their service can be a lot better. For example why is it ok to serve an ice cold chocolate croissant with no option offered to warm it up? Despite that, we love to visit here for a quick lunch but hoping this review can help improve their service. All time favorite: French onion soup

With an inviting setting near the coast and a menu full of classic French favorites — from perfectly crafted croissants and crêpes to savory omelettes and croque sandwiches — this spot brings a taste of Paris to Orange County.
I rarely write reviews unless a place truly deserves it, and this Moulin Café location at the Ritz-Carlton in Dana Point absolutely does. We visit weekly and even go out of our way just to come here. The coffee is consistently hot, fresh, and delicious—and they’re one of the few places that still serves great old-fashioned brewed decaf. We usually order it half decaf and half regular, and it’s always perfect. The pastries are excellent, and the customer service is outstanding. Antoine, the manager, is always friendly, respectful, and welcoming, and the rest of the staff is just as wonderful. Highly recommend!

The menu strikes a wonderful balance between quality and variety, making it easy to find something you’ll love every time. Its location close to the beach makes Moulin a convenient stop before or after a seaside stroll, and the fact that it has a restroom available adds practicality for longer visits. The overall vibe is cozy yet lively, and it truly feels good to spend time here, whether you’re enjoying a quick coffee break or settling in for a longer chat with friends. Love the O.J., Croissant with Cheesy Omelette and Quiche was pretty good. Also tried the Custard filled pastry and Marble pound cake next day. This location was a much better experience compared to the Newport Beach location, employee here was friendly, helpful and smiled, which made us want to come back. Out of all the locations, we visit this one the most. Ava hands down is the best! Always friendly and great to deal with, meanwhile the other girls seem to be wired to be cold and are incapable of smiling.
