Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
Almost perfect with a few gross hiccups. Let's start with the good stuff. I enjoyed my stay at the Blue Lantern Inn. The evening cheese and wine service was genuinely impressive which added to the charm. Breakfast followed the same pattern: one standout signature dish that really hit the mark, but the rest being simple and familiar. ...and then the bad stuff. I did run into some gross hiccups, a stain on the bedsheets and an eyelash on the pillowcase (see pics.) Not exactly what you hope to find when you first settle in at these high luxury prices. But the front desk handled it quickly and professionally, and housekeeping replaced everything right away. Despite that small issue, the inn has a unique atmosphere and a lot of heart. I will still come back and enjoy this unique place.
Last minute booking does not disappoint. We wanted a water view and comforts to start the new year right. The staff are friendly and attentive. The view and easy access to the outdoor patio area is just perfect. Peaceful sunset and sunrise mornings watching the harbor life. Coffee fresh throughout the day and we are about to have their breakfast 🍳
My family and I stayed at the Blue Lantern Inn to attend my aunt's sea burial in Dana Point. I was also the event coordinator for the event, and worked with the Blue Lantern Inn to secure a room block. The staff provided us with exceptional care leading up to and during our stay. We were especially touched by the thoughtfulness of their chef and breakfast staff, who prepared breakfast earlier than usual so we could reach the boat dock in time. That extra effort did not go unnoticed and meant so much to all of us. The rooms were spacious and beautifully maintained, and the ocean views were incredible - a lovely, calming backdrop that brought a bit of peace to a somber weekend. I highly recommend staying at the Blue Lantern Inn for its excellent staff, beautiful views, peaceful setting, and welcoming atmosphere.
The passive-aggressive lady on the phone had a hard time answering a few questions about parking without making mean jokes. I am assuming I might have talked to the same rude lady mentioned in the other reviews. Did not make the reservation because of her attitude. I assume impolite sarcasm is part of this hotel’s premium service.
I chose Blue Lantern Inn for my bachelorette weekend in Dana Point and it was absolutely dreamy! I had the pleasure of working with the Group & Special Events Coordinator, Carmen Hoffarth, who created our room block with special accommodations for my friends, which she did without hesitation when I asked (despite it causing more work for her on the back end). My party flew in from out-of-state and they were totally blown away by the views of the harbor, which were spectacular, and the quality of the breakfast and happy hours. The food was much better than you'd get at a typical hotel... homemade and hearty. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!
