A very beautiful restaurant! We loved the cozy, heated patio (made a reservation for it) and the attentive staff. They checked in on us periodically and cleared our courses quickly. Food and drinks took a little long to come out but everything was delicious. We ordered the lamb lollipops (so tender), bluefin tuna nigiri flight (so buttery), surf and turf rolls, whipped potatoes, brussel sprouts, and the 16 oz dry-aged New York (our fave dish). Also received a complimentary mini cheesecake to celebrate our anniversary. Had a great experience here and can’t wait to come back :)

I've wanted to visit Set forever, so we finally went yesterday for an early Valentine's celebration. It's located inside the Pendry, and parking is valet only (or you can walk over from Fashion Island across the street). We had reservations and were seated right away. At first, the service felt great--our server and the hostesses were super friendly--but the vibe quickly shifted and started to feel a bit like a car dealership We ordered the bluefin tuna pizza (to die for) and the vegan sushi roll, which was also really tasty. For entrées, I got the blue crab pasta and my husband ordered a steak... and that's when things started going downhill. Our server basically shamed him for the steak he chose, saying it wasn't a good cut and that he needed to order one of the $100+ options instead. We've been to plenty of steakhouses and have never experienced anything like that. When my husband explained he only wanted the 8 oz because he wasn't very hungry, the server pushed again, insisting the 16 oz was the "perfect" size for a meal. He was also pushing hard for the $225 couples Waygu special as soon as we sat down. Not sure if they have a steak commission going on here but it sure felt like it. I was honestly in shock, and my husband was just confused. He ended up ordering a different steak that was still more expensive than the original one, and you could tell the server still wasn't thrilled. Overall, really weird vibes. The pushiness and fake upselling definitely left a bad taste.

Delicious food all around. Great appetizers, especially the bluefin tuna pizza. That was everyone’s favorite. The rigatoni vodka sauce pasta they have is addictive! In the beet tartare, the beets should have been cooked a little longer. Great patio ambiance for a birthday dinner. One of the heaters next to our table wasn’t working and they kindly came around with blankets. One thing to note, though, was at one point our waters were running low and no one came to refill for quite some time. Also, their desserts weren’t great. The coconut cake was decent, but the chocolate pudding cake was not good and tastes like a box recipe. Overall, I’d like to come back.

My husband and I have gone here previously for my birthday so we decided to go this weekend for our wedding anniversary and honestly we were disappointed with the service this time. We were so excited to go back since we loved the double whipped baked potato and the lamb lollipops we had last time . We weren’t very happy with our waitress at all. She was not welcoming or friendly to us. I understand it was super busy and she was also busy with other tables but it seemed like she was rushing us to order our food and when we asked questions about the menu she didn’t care too much to explain it to us. My husband asked her what kind of champagne does she recommend and she replied with “You can look at the menu I don’t want to recommend anything out of your price range”. I was disappointed with that response as we don’t know much about champagne, mind you the most expensive bottle was like $40. If I’m coming to dine at this nice restaurant it’s because we CAN afford it, I don’t know why that comment was made. She also probably only checked up on us once and I can see her talking to other tables a lot so I don’t know what her issue was with us. Our busser was actually more friendly than her and checked on us several times as well as another gentleman with an iPad and a suit that walked by and recommended us the wagyu on hot rocks. Towards the end I kindly asked if they had some kind of dessert with ice cream similar to a pizookie she laughed and said I’d have to get that at BJs and not there. Again that comment wasn’t necessary I obviously know I didn’t come to eat at a BJs restaurant it was simply a question. My husband and I were also very uncomfortable with our seating people were walking by constantly and the walkway was so narrow everyone had to squeeze by since it was super busy. I’m saddened to say I don’t think I’ll be coming back here again due to the service. I was pretty disappointed with my experience this time. The food and ambience is amazing though.

The food was amazing — every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff went above and beyond, making us feel so welcomed and ensuring the night was special for our family. The ambience was incredible, elegant yet comfortable, creating the perfect setting for such a joyful occasion. I can’t thank the team enough for helping make this celebration so memorable.
