Awesome 👏. Literally lost my package and they shipped it right away. I got my board super stoked!! Best skate shop Zac helped me
I'm a 33 year old man who's wanted to skate for years without and previous experience. I decided to get a deck online and brought it in to the shop to build it. I went in being really self conscious and I'll-informed. I didn't get the sales guys name but he was awesome. He gave me a bunch of choices for everything, trucks, wheels, bearings, hardware, grip tape and didn't push anything on me. Taught me how to put it all together and answered all my questions. By the time I left, I felt ready to ride and work on my board as needed. Support your local skate shop if you want them to stick around. SoCal skate shop was the best and I'm definitely going back anytime I need help. Or if I just want to look around for that matter.
I ordered a Peralta board and cool grip tape from the same brand that would match it well and I knew it would look sick. I haven’t built a board in over 20 years and was happy to see that they had the option to have the grip tape applied for you since I did a really poor job of it the last time I tried to apply it myself. Not SoCal’s fault, but 2 days after I placed this order I happened to see the identical deck for the same price at a local shop that I ran across when out on the town. It would have been nice to know this local shop existed so I did not have to pay shipping, but I was happy that at least I was getting a deck that had done the worst part of building a board for me by having the special and fancy grip tape applied already for me. Cut to when I get home from work last night only to discover that my deck had been shipped without the grip applied. I double checked my order and the option was clearly marked to have the grip applied for me since I was worried maybe I had picked the wrong options. I emailed them about this, and got very defensive answers from an employee and the owner both of whom made me feel like this was my fault somehow. The owner also didn’t offer to do anything to make this right besides telling me to just apply it myself as it was easy to do. The owner later also assured me that this hadn’t happened in a couple of years. None of that was my fault, and now that I have a good local shop option I took it in to them, got help applying the tape and attaching the Landyachtz trucks and wheels I already owned, and I now have a sick and gorgeous board I was able to ride later that night. Don’t shop online at SoCal if there’s a decent local shop close to you- you don’t know what you’ll get when they ship your order, and they can’t make it right if you have a problem! EDIT: after leaving my review I was curious about other negative reviews. I’m noticing a pattern where the owner really likes to gaslight people who have a problem with his store. I can’t wait to see what my response on here looks like.
Very helpful staff!! I was looking to buy my husband a Father’s Day gift and on the day of I called SoCal Skateshop looking for a longboard. They helped me right away when I came in and put it together. It was really hot that day and the staff gave me and my kids cold water bottles while chatting through the build with them. I was able to give my husband the gift that same day. He loved it!
Was super excited to come check it out. Checked online for store hours before I drove out there. Online said they were open but when I arrived they weren't. If the hours have changed can we get that updated? Lol gas cost to much to drive to places for nothing.
