Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
Hands down one of the best service experiences we’ve had in a long time—thanks to Max! From the moment we sat down, he was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making our experience great. He knew the menu inside and out, gave excellent recommendations, and checked in just the right amount without ever being intrusive. You can tell Max takes pride in what he does. His positive energy, professionalism, and attention to detail truly elevated our meal. Great service like this is hard to find, and Max absolutely nailed it. We’ll definitely be back and will be asking for him again!
I used to live in San Diego and visited the locations there all the time. I moved away from SoCal for almost a decade and was pleased when I found out there was a location near me. Service was top notch and the food and beer was just as good as I remembered it. Got the $20 pub burger and beer combo they have that runs till 5pm. Highly recommended. Also got the Tallow Fries as an starter and these where fantastic. My wife got the black bean burger and was very happy with it. Bought a growler and got it filled with my favorite beer and grabbed a 4 pack of the seasonal golden stout to take home. Will be back for sure and I would highly recommend coming here. They were one of my favorite brew pubs in San Diego and this location did not disappoint.
We went here yesterday with our team, and everything was fantastic! The restaurant has its own brewery with big tanks where they brew their beers, and the IPAs were excellent. Our server, Gil, was super nice and helpful. He arranged a long table for our whole group so we could sit comfortably and hang out. He also gave us great recommendations , I tried the Ginger Salmon with rice and quinoa, and it was very tasty, healthy, and perfectly cooked. For appetizers, I ordered the Ahi Tuna with tortillas, which I really enjoyed since I’m trying to eat healthy. We also tried a few other appetizers that everyone liked. My co-workers had a mix of burgers and sandwiches, and everyone said their food was delicious. They don’t serve vodka (only beer and wine), but they were kind enough to bring me hot water with lemon since I asked for tea. After dinner, we sat outside on the patio by the fireplace, enjoying the sunset and the beautiful sky , such a relaxing way to end the evening. Parking was easy too, with spots in front of the restaurant and plenty more in the nearby shopping center. Overall, a great experience with amazing food, drinks, and service. Highly recommend it! 🍽🍻
We went to eat for the first time. Ordering is done using an app on your phone that automatically gets sent to the kitchen. We went for lunch and the restaurant was not very busy. Food was brought to the table in a reasonable amount of time. They have awesome fries and chicken tenders. I had one of their salads and that was great too. I did not order any beer but they have a large menu to choose from. All in all great meal.
First time at Karl Strauss in a very very long time. We just made it into happy hour and had about 10 to 15 minutes until it ended. I usually like to drink coffee stouts. There were a couple of options here that I like to which included the golden stout that was different. I took a four pack of golden stout and a small growler of wreck alley, I think it is wreck alley, home also. Happy hour prices are not great but at least they have something. The food was decent. The bartender was friendly and very welcoming. The atmosphere is laid back with a good amount of seating. If I am in the area I may come back for more beer.
