Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
Genkai Sushi in Dana Point is an absolute gem! I’ve always been a fan of sushi, and everything I’ve tried here has been fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. But on my most recent visit, I tried the lobster rolls for the first time—and I am officially hooked! They were rich, buttery, and packed with flavor without being overwhelming. Easily one of the best rolls I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff are always friendly and attentive. Whether you’re a longtime sushi lover or just starting to explore, Genkai offers something for everyone. I can’t wait to come back and try more of their menu. Highly recommend
We ordered the baked mussels with an avocado and shredded crab meat under it with mayo and we ordered the Sammy special, salmon nigiri and scallop nigiri and Salmon Kama and surf clam. All of these items were phenomenal!! I drove from San Diego downtown to go eat sushi here!!!
The food is very good and fresh. Ordering child menu you will have a real feast -with MANY dishes, like 2 types of chicken, shrimps, soup, salad and desert. I was impressed. Only one thing I did not like - it's too noisy but it's because everyone wants to eat there!
Best Sushi restaurant on the west coast! Go hungry and trust Yoshi the master chef choose for you. Trust me! Every time I've visited, I've enjoyed something new and exciting. Perfect for small groups. They were even accommodating to my young son. I highly recommend this place. I also recommend not ordering your normal traditional plain rolls, but be adventurous. Yoshi will impress you with his design and care to the finest details that will make every bite delightful.
Food: Sushi rolls were excellent and pretty competitive prices. My favorite was the caterpillar. Fish quality was excellent. Avocado and cucumber was fresh and sushi didn't taste like it had sugar in it which was excellent.! Service: Sucks. They are impatient, rude, and quick to walk away and pretend they didn't hear you. For example I asked if a waiter could remove a plate. He ignored me and signaled at the busboy to pick up the plate instead. Even the busboy realized that was odd.
